Leigh Schilling is an award-winning writer, director and producer based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia.
In 2023 Leigh co-founded Midnight Toast, an independent production company with a focus on developing and producing bold, innovative local stories. His first feature film as producer, Pure Scum, won the Audience Award at Fantastic Film Festival Australia and was an official selection at SXSW Sydney in 2025. The film has since been acquired by US-based genre label Chroma for worldwide distribution.
As a director, Leigh was a finalist in the North Bellarine Film Festival’s Emerging Filmmaker Award in 2024 for his short film Boxing Day. His portfolio also includes a number of music videos for artist such as SRU and The Valiants and a TVC campaign for the NGO Housing All Australians.
In addition, Leigh is also an accomplished assistant director. He has worked closely with a number of different producers and directors across a wide variety of productions, including feature films, shorts, commercials, music videos and webseries. He is proud to frequently work alongside some of Melbourne's preeminent creatives.
