ABOUT
Leigh Schilling is an award-winning writer, director and producer based in Naarm/Melbourne.
Leigh possesses a deep passion for storytelling and a diverse portfolio across narrative film, music video, documentary and commercial projects. His most recent short, Boxing Day, recently completed an international festival run in which it received official selections at the 22nd Fargo Film Festival in North Dakota, USA, the International Student Film and Video Festival in Beijing, China, and was a finalist for Best Picture at Stafford Film Festival in the UK. Leigh was also a finalist in the North Bellarine Film Festival’s Emerging Filmmaker Award in 2024.
In addition to directing, Leigh is also an accomplished assistant director and camera assistant. He has crewed on a large number of independent and commercial sets including those of feature films, shorts, music videos, commercials, webseries and documentaries, working alongside some of Melbourne's preeminate creatives.
In 2023 Leigh co-founded Midnight Toast, an independent film collective with a focus on innovative local stories. His first feature film as producer, Pure Scum, is currently in postproduction.
